The camera I use
I use a Sony ZV-E10. It’s an APS-C mirrorless camera that’s video focused.
It’s so video focused that it doesn’t even have a viewfinder.
My favourite features is its relentless autofocus. It locks onto your eye and doesn’t let go (or, if it does, it’s very brief). This is amazing for a one-person camera operator like myself.
So it works really well for talking head type-shots, locked off on a tripod, no movement. The stabilisation is pretty shocking, so I wouldn’t using it for more out and about type-stuff.
The menu system will also drive you crazy. But you’ll appreciate the flip out screen and a headphone jack. It is very difficult to find a mirrorless camera that does 4K, has a flip out screen, comes with a headphone jack and is around $A1000.
I used to use Panasonic and loved the G95…except for its atrocious autofocus. If Panasonic fixed the AF then they’d have a return customer. Panasonic menus and buttons are much more accomodating.

The lens I use
I mainly use the Sigma 16mm f1.4. This is just like any other Sony YouTuber on this planet.
This lens has a great field of view so you can film yourself and adjust the camera. And with f1.4, you’ll have all the bokeh you need.
There’s one great part of combining the ZV-E10 with the lens. If you turn on Active SteadyShot on the camera, you shrink the field of view and it becomes more like a 30mm equivalent. This offers great flexibility without having to buy an extra lens.

My camera mic
Deity D3. It's a fine directional shotgun mic.

My other mics
For screen recordings I use Samson Q2U. Cheap and easy to use, with excellent sound quality and dual USB/XLR inputs.
